An awaken meeting

The Branch Conference of Siliguri CTO – GM Office branch was held at Siliguri CTO Institute Hall on 12/ 11/ 2011. At the outset the Red flag was hoisted and martyrs column was garlanded. Com. Amitava Chattopadhyay Circle Treasurer, BSNLEU WB Circle inaugurated the conference. Comrade Chattopadhyay in his speech narrated the Crisis of BSNL and retrograde decisions of the Govt of India to attack BSNL and its employees through VRS, non expansion of service and other allied issues and policies of the Central Govt which hampers the service as well as the service conditions of the BSNL employees including the deadly attack of PFRDA bill. Altogether 60 -65 members were present in the meeting. Com. Rupnarayan Bhattacharya, Com. Prasanna Kundu and Com. Debashis Roy were elected as President, Secretary and Treasurer unanimously from the house respectively. Later on a General Body Meeting was also held at the same venue which was addressed by Comrade Animesh Mitra, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU WB Circle. Comrade Mitra in his speech narrated the situation arose due to VRS, he has also expressed that the problems can be solved only with united struggle. He also told regarding the unsettled demands of BSNL employees and the call of the United Forum decisions to perform the sit in demonstration programme on 18^th November and Relay hunger fast programme of 28^th & 29^th November, 2011. The GB meeting was attended by Com. Mani Chhetri, Vice President, BSNLEU WB Circle, Com. Madan Rai, Br. Secy, Darjeeling Branch and few other comrades who came from Darjeeling amidst bad weather. The Local SNEA Leader also spoke on the occasion. The GB was attended by nearly 80—90 members of Siliguri and adjacent areas.
