NFTE – FNTO AGREED TO IPO AND VRS?

It is reliably learnt that NFTE & FNTO have agreed for IPO as well as VRS to be implemented in lieu of getting certain benefits as non-recognized unions on accommodation, notice boards etc.

In fact, both these unions have agreed to retrench 50,000 workers through VRS in the National Council meeting held in 2004.  It was only due to strong opposition from BSNLEU, after it got recognition in December 2004, that the decision for VRS was dropped.

NFTE had always stated that they will not oppose the policy of the government.  FNTO is part of INTUC, which is fully supporting government policies including liberalisation, privatisation and globalization.

It is also a fact that both these two unions first refused to join the 11th July 2007 strike.  They decided later, when it was clear that vast majority of workers will go on strike.

Comrades, let us be vigilant and ready for immediate action if the management / government move for IPO or VRS with the support of NFTE-FNTO alliance.
