It is reported that Communications Minister Kapil Sibal is planning to levy additional charges for the extra spectrum received by telecom companies including BSNL and MTNL. While private companies are making extra profit, there is nothing wrong to charge them extra. But BSNL and MTNL which are implementing the social committments of the government by serving  lakhs of villages and rural areas, which are loss making. Hence, these charges should not be levied upon them. Especially when both the companies are in financial difficulty. So, do not charge BSNL and MTNL for extra spectrum.
