CITU HAILS THE HISTORIC STRIKE OF BSNL EMPLOYEES

CITU congratulates BSNL employees for their 3 day historic strike from 1-3rd December 2010 to defend and save BSNL. The strike call by the joint action committee of Associations/ Unions of BSNL on issues including disinvestment and retrograde proposals of Sam Pitroda committee has received tremendous response from 3 lakh Non executive and executive employees of BSNL.

CITU unions in Central Public Sector Units are observing Anti-Disinvestment Day through protests, demonstrations and gate meetings on 1st December 2010 against govt’s anti-people policy of disinvestment and also expressing solidarity with the strike in BSNL.

CITU calls upon the govt to stop forthwith its programme of creeping privatization of public sector units through disinvestment and to accept the demands of BSNL employees to save BSNL, which is serving a strategic sector like communication, a sector right now in the midst of utra-mega scams, perpetrated by the Govt-private corporate nexus.
