Dear Comrade,

                        

                    At the outset on behalf of the Circle Union we congratulate all the members to take initiative for organizational activities for proposed strike programme w.e.f. 26th February’ 08. However, an emergent Circle Office bearer meeting was held on 22nd February’08 which was presided by Com. Gobinda Das, the senior most Vice president of BSNLEU, WB Circle on some important issues and future tasks which are narrated below.

 

a) Programme on 26/02/08:- Perhaps you have already received the copy of the minutes of the meeting held on 19th February, 2008 between the Secretary D.O.T. and the leaders of the Join Forum of Executives and Non Executives Unions and Associations of BSNL. After considering the views of the BSNL managements as well as the Communication Ministry (represented by Secy. DOT and other officers) the JF leaders have decided unanimously to defer the proposed indefinite strike from 26th February onwards.   Circle Office bearers have decided in their meeting that these matters should be communicated to the grass root level of our Organisation and for that G.B. Meetings should be organized during lunch recess/between two shifts  at all level ( up to  the unit ) on  26th February, 2008, describing the details of the discussion with the management in this regard.

 

b)Programme on 29/02/2008 :-  As per the decision of the 3rd State Conference of the  BSNLEU/W.B. Circle, The District and Branch Secretaries  are requested to collect Rs. 100/-  per member for the ensuing All India Convention of the Casual /Contractual Labourers of BSNL positively on 29th February, 2008  and remit the amount to the Circle Union at the earliest opportunity (by 5th of March, 2008).

 

c)Programme from 01/03/08 to 07/03/08  :-  The Circle Union has the opinion and also requests  the District/ Branch Secretaries to communicate the descriptive report of the 4th AIC of  BSNLEU which was held from 13.02.08 to 16.02.08 at Mulund, Mumbai by the end of the first week of March, 2008 (i.e. 01/03/08 - 07/03/08).

 

d) Observance of Women’s Day on 8th March:- The District and Branch Secretaries  are requested to observe International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2008 in a befitting manner.  District and Branch Secretaries in and around Kolkata are requested to observe Women’s Day on 10th March, 2008 as 8th March is a holiday (Second Saturday)

 

e)Programmes on 14th & 15th March’2008:- It is already decided that the All India Convention of Casual and Contractual Labourers of BSNL will be held on 14th and 15th March, 2008 at Kolkata.  The Convention will start sharp at 10 A.M. on 14th March,2008 and Com. Shyamal Chakraborty, President C.I.T.U. / W.B. and Com. V.A.N. Namboodri, GS / BSNLEU will be present on the occasion.
