JOINT FORUM CALLS FOR AGITATION FOR ITS OFFICERS ABSORPTION: -

The meeting of the Joint Forum of BSNL Associations/Unions of Executives and Non-Executives held on 12th February expressed its serious concern in the inordinate delay in the absorption of ITS Officers in BSNL, which is causing serious deterioration of services and also dual policy of absorption and has called upon the BSNL workers to organise the following agitational programmes demanding immediate absorption of ITS officers in BSNL.

 

(1) Black Day wearing Black Badges and demonstration SSA/Circle levels   : 24th February 2009

(2) Daylong Dharna at SSA /Circle levels     :   17th March 2009

(3) One Day Strike                                           : 25th March 2009

(4) Indefinite strike (date of which will be decided later)

 

Circle / Branch Secretaries are requested to immediately prepare for successfully organising the programmes in co-ordination with the Joint Forum unions /associations at their respective levels.

FDI INCREASE: -The Joint Forum strongly protested against the decision of the government liberalising the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) guidelines which will in effect mean complete removal of FDI cap in telecom, defence, insurance, aviation, media etc. making it possible for 100% control by foreign capital. The Government has shown its utter contempt for the Parliament by issuing the above guidelines on the eve of the Parliament. The Joint Forum demanded the government to rescind this unwarranted decision immediately.

 

CENTRAL SECRETARIAT MEETING OF BSNLEU – DECISIONS PARLIAMENT MARCH ON 18TH FEBRUARY 2009

 

The Central Secretariat of BSNL Employees Union held on 12.02.2009 has decided to make the 18th February March to Parliament called by the Sponsoring Committee of Trade Unions, Central Trade Unions and All India Federations including BSNLEU a big success. It has called upon the nearby circles to bring maximum number of workers to participate in the Parliament March. They are requested to assemble near Jantar Mantar by 10.00 hours with their banners, flags etc. The demands of the March etc. have already been circulated.

The Central Secretariat called upon all the workers to implement the decisions of the Joint Forum successfully.

The Central Secretariat finalised the programme of the Central Executive Committee to be held at New Delhi on 5-6 March 2009.

 

MEETING WITH GM (ESTT) :-

Com. VAN Namboodiri, General Secretary, BSNLEU along with Coms. K. R. Yadav, Vice-President, Ganesh Mathpati, Asst. General Secretary and S.C. Bhattacharya, Treasurer met Shri D.P. Dey, GM (Estt) on 12th February 2009 and discussed the following issues:

 

Promotional Policy: -

The draft for the management committee will be prepared shortly and submitted for consideration. Then the same will have to be approved by the BSNL Board also before going to DOT. Union wanted early action in the matter.

 

Security Bond: -

 Our demand for relaxation from furnishing of bonds by the passed departmental candidates for DR quota of JTOs is being favourably considered.

 

MEETING WITH DIRECTOR (OPERATIONS):-

Com. VAN Namboodiri, General Secretary met Shri Rajesh Wadhwa, Director (operations) on 12th February and discussed about the development, expansions and operational problems. Certain suggestions were made by the Union, which was appreciated by the Director. Further discussions in the matter will take place.

 

KOLKATA ORGANISE VICTORY RALLY: -

 The four circle unions of West Bengal viz. West Bengal, Kolkata Telephones, Telecom Factory and Telecom Stores will organise a mammoth victory rally at Kolkata on 13th February. Com. VAN Namboodiri, General Secretary will address the rally. Other prominent leaders also will address.
