HIGHLIGHTS

v In Wireless (GSM+CDMA) segment, top 4 performers in net Wireless Subscribers addition in April’11 are: Reliance (29.39 lac), Idea (24.50 lac), Bharti (24.11 lac) & Vodafone (24.09 lac). BSNL posted a meager growth of only 1.73 lac.

v Amongst BSNL Circles, Andhra Pradesh again recorded highest Wireless Subscribers’ growth of 2.4 lac followed by Karnataka 0.95 lac. But the matter of grave concern is that 8 Circles viz. Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Kolkata TD, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan & UP(E) have posted negative growth during April’11 in Wireless segment, resulting in the meager overall growth of BSNL at all India level (perhaps all time lowest).

v VLR – Visitor Location Register shows the actual number of active Wireless telephones. In April 2011, VLR report indicated that only 70.53% (58.32 crore) of all wireless subscribers were active. Company-wise detailed status is shown in the table.
